Company Overview

WGWinery was founded in 1996, when owner/vintner Bill Pesonen first purchased his property in the northern, rolling hills of the Alexander Valley, and laid out plans to plant a five-acre tract with Cabernet Sauvignon. The present-day winery and tasting room followed a few years later, along with three acres of Petite Sirah on Melanie Peña’s and Mark Perry’s neighboring property, Vinas de las Peñas. An additional two acres of Cabernet, as well as a grove of olive trees, were added soon after.

Since then, Bill and his team have produced premium award-winning red wines, beginning with his 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon, which was honored with a Double Gold medal in the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition in 2011.
